Twitter as well as other Silicon Valley tech companies lack diversity.

At the end of 2015, after a turbulent and much-criticized year, Twitter announced it was hiring a new head of diversity. This change may have been an attempt at damage control: The company had recently laid off its sole black engineer, Leslie Miley. After losing his job, Miley went on to publicly vent a “long series of frustrations” regarding Twitter’s attempts to address diversity. So, it came as a great surprise to many that Twitter then chose to fill the head of diversity role with none other than a white male.
