In one corner: “Analog Anachronism,” the long-time champ. In the other corner: “Digital Disruption,” a tough fighter with a great future. Analog Anachronism has terrific fighting assets. He’s wise and canny, with great experience. He wins with personal and face-to-face communications. People love Analog. But, Digital Disruption is no slouch either. He’s young and fit, with new ways of thinking, doing and being. He’s a high-tech expert at connecting interfaces. The battle is for big stakes. The winner will govern how companies connect with their clients for the rest of their business lives.

Digital Disruption already knocked out some heavy analog contenders, including Borders, Blockbuster and Kodak. In this fight, the smart money rides on Digital, who is far more fit and in better fighting form.

Yet underdog Analog still represents millions of the digitally displaced: “the disenfranchised, the laid-off, the defunct, the bankrupt” and “the unemployed.” They’re all rooting for Analog, who will try to hang on.
