Recommendation

Motivational coach and financial services executive Larry Weidel’s manual on the “winning cycle” of success offers valuable ideas on career growth. The author now coaches more than 1,000 US and Canadian leaders in weekly phone sessions, but at one point in his life, he needed government food stamps to feed his family. Having withstood dismal lows before he succeeded, he provides intriguing advice about five cycles of winning: Understand that your choices matter, make a big effort, adjust your plans, finish what you start and don’t settle for losing. getAbstract recommends his companionable advice to entrepreneurs, the self-employed and anyone who wants a pep talk.

Summary

The “Cycle of Winning”

To become a “serial winner” who repeatedly comes out on top, apply a five-step cycle of dedicating yourself to taking winning actions and maintaining your determination. The cycle’s five components – “Decide,” “Overdo,” “Adjust,” “Finish” and “Improve” – are not complex concepts. They are fundamental actions that parents teach children and they require careful thought and focus. Make sure you put these five elements to work to become a serial winner:

Many people fear leaving their limiting, comfortable cocoons to try something new. They believe they lack the necessary advantages to get ahead. For instance, they assume being a winner is genetic – that winners grow up in privileged environments, go to the best colleges and so on. Those ideas are myths. Many times, people with no special advantages ascend to the top, while those from better circumstances never better themselves.

Kurt Warner provides an excellent example. ...
