Judy Ringer, the founder of Power & Presence Training, is an international speaker, coach, seminar leader and consultant and holds a third-degree black belt in aikido. She also wrote Unlikely Teachers: Finding the Hidden Gifts in Daily Conflict. Ringer has 25 years’ experience as a coach and trainer, and more than 25 years as an accomplished aikido practitioner.

    Interesting in theory. In practice, workplace conflicts typically originate from fundamental incompatible in personality or personal ideologies, rather than differences in rational opinions. This renders pragmatic (Akido) methods described in this book ineffective, since the conflict will simply continue in more subtle but no less severe outlets following mediated conflict resolution. Increasing physical and emotional distance between said parties remains the only definite remedy.
